It is somehow Sunday yet again, which means it’s time for another weekly wrap up. This week has just been a weird one. I haven’t felt motivated to really do anything, and that includes reading. I basically just watched a lot of YouTube. And even though getting behind on the reading I was planning to do gives me anxiety, I’m trying to give myself a bit of a break right now. I still managed to read one book, so it wasn’t all bad.
What I Read
The one and only book I finished this week is… Burning Our Bodies Down by Rory Power. I loved Wilder Girls when I read it last year, so I was very excited to read this one. And it did not disappoint. I do not know where Rory Power gets her novel ideas, but I would not be surprised at all if that place was the upside down.
Anyway, it was a great book! I loved it and will probably be vaguely creeped out by it for a long time. Review will be up sometime this month.
What I’m Currently Reading
The first book I want to mention is Stamped from the Beginning by Ibram X. Kendi. I started the audiobook, and am really liking it so far. I think I’m going to learn a lot from this book. Audiobook listening hasn’t been happening much this past week, but I’m hoping to fix that this week.
I’m also reading it is Wood, It is Stone by Gabriella Burnham. It’s her debut novel, and it’s honestly kind of blowing me away. I have not read a lot of books that successfully use second-person POV – and it’s really gutsy for a debut – but it just works so well. I will be finishing this today, because my review is scheduled for tomorrow. (This is why I need to stay ahead with my reading.)
In Other News
I just finished watching Us, and my mind was blown. Jordan Peele’s brain scares me. But I think I really enjoyed this one. I’m still not sure what I think. But I know I couldn’t look away. Have any of you seen this one? What did you think?
This week I also learned the hard way what happens when you’re in your thirties and scroll through TikTok and play Animal Crossing for hours every day. And that thing is tendonitis in your wrist/thumb. It’s pretty painful, and my left hand is at like half capacity, but it’s getting a little better. So, posts might be short for a while, because typing without one thumb is already annoying.
Anyway, I hope you’re all having a great week! What are you reading this weekend?
