Weekly Wrap Up

So, April didn’t get off to a great start. I’ve just been really distracted lately, so I haven’t been reading as much as I wanted to. I’m enjoying everything I’ve been reading, I just don’t really have the attention span right now to read for an extended period of time. I blame TikTok (which I downloaded out of boredom this week and am already addicted). But, I’m writing this early so I can hopefully get to bed early and read for a couple hours before I fall asleep.

But we CAN talk about the books I’m reading. First up is Burial Rites by Hannah Kent. I’m reading this for my work book club, and I’m excited to finally cross it off my TBR. So far, I’m really enjoying it. It’s slow, but I’m definitely into the story and looking forward to reading more.

I’m currently about halfway through the audiobook of The Odyssey by Homer. I’m kind of loving this, and, while I still can’t believe it took me this long to read it, I’m kind of glad I waited for the Emily Wilson translation, because it’s absolutely fantastic. I even enjoyed her introduction. I’m excited to listen to the rest of this.

Finally, I just started reading Why We Sleep by Matthew Walker, which is on my OWL Magical Readathon TBR (I’m reading it for a challenge that asks you to read a book mostly after dark). And, within half a paragraph, this has sufficiently scared me into being better about sleep (and I’ve definitely improved over the past few years). I kind of hate sleeping – if it wasn’t necessary, I would totally opt out – so I was kind of hoping to have that reaction. Maybe I’ll use this new knowledge to change my sleep habits (seriously, anything to help with my anxiety at this point).

    1. Thanks! It has the added bonus of being just dry enough to put me to sleep while also convincing me to try and get more sleep. Which is helpful since I’ve been going to bed super late now that I don’t have to commute to work or really get ready in the mornings.
