April Reading List – Because Twelve Books for a Readathon Isn’t Enough

April Reading List

Even though the past month has felt like an entire year, I have no idea how it’s already April. We’ve made it through a quarter of 2020, and honestly, it hasn’t been great. Maybe it’s just me, but it’s a little disappointing since this new decade kind of felt like a fresh start. This year so far has been kind of a rollercoaster – I went on my first big trip as an adult, which was stressful, but also awesome because it felt like I did it just for me. And since I’ve gotten back, things have been, well, you all know what the world looks like now. But it’s a new month, and maybe a new start. The world may look the same as it did yesterday, but we can try to change how we see it. So what if your family is (not so) slowly driving you insane, look at all the books you have to read! Right?

This month, I’m planning on participating in the O.W.L. Magical Readathon – so make sure you check out that post for ALL the books I’m planning on reading this month (there are twelve of them, because I am incapable of making things easy for myself). Since I kind of already published my reading list this month, I’m just going to talk about a few of the ones I am most definitely going to be reading, even if I fail the rest of it.

Burial Rites by Hannah Kent. Nope, this is not on my O.W.L. reading list. It’s actually a pick for my office book club (we’re just starting out, and read Bringing Down the Duke by Evie Dunmore last month). It’s a little outside of my coworker’s comfort zone, so we’ll see how this goes. It’s been on my TBR for a very long time, so I’m excited about it.

Katheryn Howard: The Scandalous Queen by Alison Weir. I absolutely love the Six Tudor Queens series, and I’m so excited for this one, which is the fifth installment. It comes out next month, but I was lucky enough to get an ARC, so I get to read it early. I can’t wait!

Real Men Knit by Kwana Jackson. This is another May release that I’m hoping to read this month. I love knitting, and I have really enjoyed picking up more romance books lately, so I’m looking forward to this one.

Hopefully I can actually finish all thirteen books on my planned TBR – some of them are pretty big, and I have been distracted by Animal Crossing lately. Which means I might listen to a lot of audiobooks this month (multitasking for the win!).

What are you hoping to read in April?
