It’s the beginning of a new year, which means I’m (mostly) still excited about all of the books I want to read this year. I’m a little bit behind already, but it’s totally fine. I can catch up with some audiobooks, right? This month, I want to share one of my all-time favorite audiobooks. I actually just listened to it for the second time (and convinced half of my book club to do the same). I love this book so much, and the audiobook absolutely does it justice.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

Narrated by Jim Dale

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

13 hours and 40 minutes

The Night Circus is pure magic. The writing and the story are so absolutely beautiful and immerse you in this fantastical world. It is honestly, truly one of the best things I’ve ever read.

The first time I reread this book, I decided to give the audiobook a try. And it’s SO GOOD. You might know Jim Dale from the US Harry Potter audiobooks. He is a brilliant narrator, and he does a great job of making this book feel more real. I absolutely loved listening to the audiobook. So when it was chosen for my book club I convinced my book club to read it this month, I knew I had to listen to the audiobook. And I know two or three other members of my book club did the same because they actually thanked me for recommending the audiobook in particular – they hopped back and forth between the paperback and the audiobook, and actually preferred the audio. It’s that good. Listening to it a second time was just as magical as the first time. And I will definitely listen to it again and again. There really aren’t very many audiobooks I can say that about.

If you have a favorite audiobook, share it in the comments – I’m always looking for good audiobook recommendations (especially nonfiction).

Check out my favorite audiobooks of 2019 if you missed it!

  1. I really enjoyed Educated by Tara Westover, The Illuminae Files, Daisy Jones, and Sadie as audiobooks. I also tend to listen to nonfiction on audio, like the book What If?

    1. I’ve enjoyed all of those (I haven’t read Sadie yet, though), but didn’t listen to the audio. I do love listening to nonfiction on audio. I think that’s most of what I listen to. I’m currently finishing up Walter Isaacson’s biography of Benjamin Franklin – it’s really good!
