It’s a new year, which means new books! There are so many great book releases already announced for this year. I’m pretty excited for quite a few books this year. But today, I’m focusing on the books I’m most excited about. All the books are linked to their Goodreads pages, so you can read more about them or add them to your TBR (if you want).
Come Tumbling Down by Seanan McGuire (January 7). Yes, I definitely already have a copy of this (it’s been preordered since November). But I am very excited to read it. This series just keeps getting better and better, and I am so excited for more Jack and Jill.
King of Crows by Libba Bray (February 4). This is such a great series about a (diverse) group of teens with supernatural abilities living in the 1920s. This is the final book in the series, and while I’m honestly kind of scared to see what’s going to happen, I can’t wait.
The Glass Hotel by Emily St. John Mandel (February 15). I haven’t read anything by Emily St. John Mandel since Station Eleven. I’m not sure why, because I loved that one. This one sounds great, so I’m looking forward to picking it up.
He Started It by Samantha Downing (March 10). My Lovely Wife is one of the best thrillers I’ve read in the past few years. So I’m definitely looking forward to what Samantha Downing comes out with next.
Darling Rose Gold by Stephanie Wrobel (March 17). I actually have an ARC of this one, so I’ll be reading it soon. I think this is the only book on this list by an author I haven’t yet read, but it’s a story I’m very curious about. I think this one could be kind of amazing.
Katheryn Howard: The Scandalous Queen by Alison Weir (May 14). I am obsessed with this series. It’s about the wives of Henry VIII – each wife has a different book, and this is number five. I don’t know very much about Katheryn Howard, so I’m looking forward to this one.
Burn Our Bodies Down by Rory Power (July 7). Wilder Girls was one of my favorite books last year, and I’m so excited to see that Rory Power is coming out with something new in 2020. Honestly, I don’t even care what this is about, I want to read it.
Doors of Stone by Patrick Rothfuss (August 21). I kind of can’t believe we’re finally getting the final book in the Kingkiller Chronicle this year, but apparently it’s happening. And I can’t wait!
Bridge of Souls by Victoria Schwab (September 1). I’m pretty surprised that the third book in a middle grade series made this list, but its Victoria Schwab. So obviously it’s amazing. Seriously, check out this series if you haven’t yet.
The Seven Sisters by Neil Gaiman (September 15). Neverwhere is pretty much my favorite book of all time. AND WE’RE GETTING A SEQUEL THIS YEAR. Apologies in advance if I can’t shut up about this all year.
Transcendent Kingdom by Yaa Gyasi (September 15). I absolutely loved Homegoing. Yaa Gyasi is a fantastic author, and I’m really looking forward to reading more of her work.
The Invisible Life of Addie La Rue by V. E. Schwab (October 6). Again, more V. E. Schwab (I seriously don’t understand how that woman sleeps). This one sounds incredible. I’m calling it now: I think this is going to end up on my 2020 favorites list.
That’s it for my most anticipated 2020 releases! There are a lot of other books on my radar for the year, but these are the books I’m most excited about.
