As the year comes to a close, I’ve been thinking a lot about how fortunate we are to have this amazing book community (and all of these amazing books). Being a part of this for the past five years has made an enormous difference in my life, and I want to do that for someone else. Unfortunately, I don’t have the resources to be another Ellen DeGeneres, but I do have this blog. So this holiday season, I’m asking for a favor.
If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you might know how passionate I am about books and education. I think those two things are so incredibly important. Books have literally made me into the person I’m proud to be today, and I think they have the potential to help so many more people (even if it’s just to provide a brief escape from their hardships).
So, this holiday season, I set up a fundraiser with Room to Read, a nonprofit that promotes literary and gender equality (another issue that is very important to me) for children in low-income communities around the world. I’m asking you to please click the link below and give whatever you can to help these children who at not as fortunate as all of us are:
If everyone reading this donates even just a dollar, we will be well on our way to meeting my goal. I already donated what I can for now, and am planning on donating more after the holidays. And, since I completely understand if the holidays are hard and you can’t donate right now, my fundraiser will be open until my birthday on May 31, 2020. (Consider it your Christmas/birthday present to me.)
Just in case you need extra incentive to help me out with this amazing cause, I will be giving away three books of the winners’ choice (worth up to $30) from Book Depository to three randomly selected donors! All you have to do to enter is donate any amount before January 1st (you can still donate after that date, you just won’t be eligible for the giveaway). Just be sure to use a valid email address to donate, so I can contact you if you win!
Words cannot express how much appreciate all you have done for me for the past five years. This blog and this community have changed my life for the better, and I would love more than anything to pay it forward this year. I would greatly appreciate it if you can help me do that. Let’s make a difference together.
