Books I Meant to Read in 2019

If you are anything like me, you get really excited about new release books. You go out and buy them, or maybe even preorder them. And then…. you don’t read them. Just me?

This year, I read the most books I have ever read, but there are still quite a few new releases that I didn’t get to. Here are the books I was very excited about this year, and haven’t read yet.

Dark Age by Pierce Brown

I cannot believe I didn’t read Dark Age this year. I have been a loyal reader of this series for five years now. I’ve preordered every book since book one, I have signed copies of every single book (including this one), and I’ve met Pierce Brown three times. And yet, when this arrived in the mail, I just wasn’t feeling it for some reason. I decided not to force myself to read it and end up hating it. But I WILL read it next year. Because the next book is coming.

The Testaments by Margaret Atwood

I’ll be honest, I’m kind of afraid to read this because The Handmaid’s Tale is so amazing. I will read it, though. Because I preordered it.

The Philosopher’s War by Tom Miller

I loved The Philosopher’s Flight last year. This is the second book in the series, and I was so excited to read it. And then I didn’t. Soon, though.

On the Come Up by Angie Thomas

I can’t believe I didn’t read this the second I got it! What is wrong with me? I loved The Hate U Give, I love Angie Thomas, and I’m sure I’m going to love this one. I need to read it soon.

No Judgements by Meg Cabot

I have been a fan of Meg Cabot for nearly two decades (I know, it sounds like an insanely long time!), and this is the year I got back into reading romance, so I have absolutely no idea why I didn’t pick this one up.

Bringing Down the Duke by Evie Dunmore

One more romance novel that seemed really fun, and different from any I’ve read this year because it’s historical. I do think this will make a fun read when I’m in the mood.

A Woman is No Man by Etaf Rum

I was so excited to read this one because it is by an Arab-American author about a Palestinian-American character. Which is not something I had the opportunity to read before, and really want to because I am actually half Palestinian.

Three Women by Lisa Taddeo

I’ve heard so much about this, and thought it would be a great addition to my nonfiction reading this year. And then I just didn’t read it. I do want to read it soon, though.
