I was SO CLOSE to finishing a third book this week to include in my wrap up. But then at 11pm on Saturday, all three toilets in my house decided to stop working. I’m currently writing this just before midnight (when this post is meant to go up) while waiting for the emergency plumber and crossing my fingers that I won’t have to go to the bathroom anytime soon. (If anyone ever doubts my dedication to this blog, I will just refer them to this post.) But, even though I didn’t finish one more book, I did finish two books this week, including a new favorite.
This week was a long one, and I didn’t read much in the beginning of the week. Which makes me feel anxious (yeah, I know reading shouldn’t be stressful, but you try blogging abut books and see what happens). I decided to pick up a book I knew would be a quick read and went with My Favorite One Night Stand by Christina Lauren. I’ve really been enjoying their books this year (if you didn’t know, Christina Lauren is an author duo). And while I did like it, I think it’s my least favorites of the ones I’ve read (the other two being Roomies and The Unhoneymooners). It wasn’t bad, I just wasn’t a huge fan of the storyline of this one. I still plan on reading more of their books, though.
Then I finished… wait for it… The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt. And I LOVED IT. It was brilliant and amazing and everything everyone said it would be. Definitely a new favorite. And since I’m cutting it close on time, you can check out my full review of The Goldfinch if you want to read my incoherent thoughts about how much I loved this book.
Finally, the book that ALMOST made it into this wrap up: The Poppy War by R. F. Kuang. I have less than a hundred pages left, and I’m loving it so far. I think it’s going to end up being a five-star read for me. Why did I put off reading this for so long? I seriously need to stop doing that.
That’s it for this week. I hope you’re all having a great weekend! What are you reading this week?
