It’s time for another Audiobook of the month! I’ve been listening to a lot of audiobooks lately, mostly in the car, but also while I’m doing things around the house. Cleaning goes by so much faster with an audiobook. One I’ve (semi)recently enjoyed is:
Bad Blood: Secrets & Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup by John Carreyrou
Read by Will Damron
11 hours and 37 minutes
True crime is turning into one of my favorite genres, especially for audiobooks. I love listening to nonfiction on audio, and true crime is (usually) really engaging. Bad Blood is no exception. The whole situation regarding Theranos is absolutely fascinating. And batshit-crazy. Google it. I had previously watched HBO’s documentary about Theranos, The Inventor (which I would also definitely recommend – even if you watch it before you read the book, like I did), but John Carreyrou goes much further in Bad Blood.
I don’t know too much about investigative journalism, but I think Carreyrou did a great job getting to the bottom of Theranos. This book has lots of interviews and articles, which really made it feel like Carreyrou had done his research – not surprising, since he was one of the journalists who first broke the case. I think if you want to learn more about this case, then Bad Blood is the way to do it. It was comprehensive and incredibly interesting. And it was recommended by Bill Gates, so you can’t go wrong (I know I say this a lot, but he gives THE BEST book recommendations). Plus, the audiobook narration was great, I couldn’t wait to get back in my car at the end of every day so I could keep listening. And audiobooks that make me look forward to my commute are always great.

I hope you enjoyed this post! If you have a favorite audiobook, share it in the comments – I’m always looking for good audiobook recommendations.
