This was a pretty slow reading week for me. I’d realized that, over the past few months, I was putting a lot of pressure on myself to read and blog, and it was starting to turn into something more stressful than fun. So I took a little time out and did some other fun things this week. Which was exactly what I needed. I might reevaluate my blogging schedule and reading goals, because, really, reading four books a week and publishing five posts is A LOT when you also have a full-time job.
This week I did finish reading Pachinko by Min Jin Lee. I really enjoyed this book. It’s a beautiful story and reminded me quite a bit of one of my favorite books, Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi. I loved almost everything about this story, but I did feel like it was just a bit too drawn out towards the end. Still, it was one of the best historical fiction novels I’ve read so far this year.
As for current reads, I’m concentrating on finishing The Fellowship of the Ring, which I’m loving so far. Twelve-year-old me did not appreciate this book as much as I should. I’ll also be starting The Priory of the Orange Tree later today – you voted, so I have to read it. I’m trying to keep my reading more low-key lately because I need it to not be a source of stress anymore.
I hope you all had a great week! What are you reading this weekend?
