It’s time to test my book blogger memory! I was not tagged, but I saw this challenge on Brilliantly Bookish, and couldn’t resist. I think it’ll be fun to test my knowledge. Let’s see if I can do this!
You must answer these questions without looking anything up on the internet and without looking at your bookshelves!
And, as a bonus challenge, I am writing this entire post nowhere near my bookshelves (or the multiple stacks of books around my house) so I don’t accidentally cheat by looking away from my computer. Also, I’m going to try and give completely different answers than Eva on Brilliantly Bookish, because I already read them, and that would be too easy.
Name a book written by an author called Michael
The first one that came to mind is Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton. Because dinosaurs. Probably because I’m planning on (finally) reading The Lost World this year. At some point.
Name a book with a dragon on the cover
Since I’ve been staring at it for weeks, I have to go with The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon. Also, the dragon is metallic and I love it.
Name a book about a character called George
I had to come back to this one several times before I could think of anything (other than the answer Eva gave, which is perfect) and then I remembered Curious George! I’m pretty proud of myself for that one, especially after an hour of only being able to think of authors or side characters named George.
Name a book written by an author with the surname Smith
I haven’t read it yet, but the book that immediately popped into my head is White Teeth by Zadie Smith. Probably should read this at some point. Even though I have no idea what it’s about.
Name a book set in Australia
I’ve read a few I think might have been set in Australia, but the one that comes to mind is Big Little Lies by Lianne Moriarty. Which I’m sure was set in Australia, because they have a pool party at Christmas. (Unless I’m remembering that wrong, and it was another Moriarty book…) Still, fairly certain it’s set in Australia.
Name a book with the name of a month in the title
The only one I can think of is The Last of August by Brittany Cavallaro. I still have not read past the first book in this series, but I want to.
Name a book with a knife on the cover
This one took me so long to think of. And then I realized I just reviewed a book that very distinctly features a knife on the cover: My Lovely Wife by Samantha Downing.
Name a book with the word ‘one’ in the title
Another one that took me way too long to come up with an answer for, but I finally did: The Witch Doesn’t Burn in This One by Amanda Lovelace (or any of the other books in the Some Kind of Magic series).
Name a book with an eponymous title
My brain kind of went blank on this one for a bit, but then I remembered the one I read fairly recently: Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier. Which is an interesting example, because the narrating character of this novel is not only NOT Rebecca, but her name is never given.
Name a book turned into a movie
Finally! An easy one! I’m going with Crazy Rich Asians for no reason other than that it’s the first one I thought of. Also, I want more Ken Jeong and Awkwafina please.
That’s it for this challenge! It was a lot of fun, but I’m also glad to be done with it because it took me forever. I am not used to tags where I’m not allowed to look at my bookshelves, and it was definitely challenging.
If you’d like to participate in this challenge, consider yourself tagged. I’m excited to see what answers other people are able to come up with.
