It’s time for another Audiobook of the Month! I’m pretty excited to share this month’s selection. Not only is it a great audiobook, it was actually my first five-star read of 2019. Yes, I finally found a young adult novel worthy of five stars. It’s been a while. But I can always count on Mackenzi Lee, and I am so glad I finally got around to listening to this one:
The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy by Mackenzi Lee
Read by Moira Quirk
11 hours and 16 minutes
I don’t think it’s a surprise that The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue is still one of my favorite audiobooks, nearly two years later. So, when it came time to jump into the sequel, I knew the audiobook was the way to go.
The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy follows one of my favorite characters from Gentleman’s Guide, Felicity Montague (though, let’s be honest, they’re pretty much all my favorites). I didn’t think it was possible to love her even more, but this book proved me wrong. I absolutely loved getting to know Felicity more in this book, and I really enjoyed all of the new characters. There’s such a fun cast in this book, it’s hard not to have a good time reading (or listening to) it.
While the narration isn’t quite as flawless as Christian Coulson’s in Gentleman’s Guide (who doesn’t like teenage Voldemort?) Moira Quirk does a brilliant job bringing Felicity to life. If you haven’t read this series – or are looking to reread it – I highly recommend the audiobooks of both books. (And no, you don’t have to read both, but you’ll get a lot more out of it if you read Gentleman’s Guide first.)
If you’re interested in this audiobook, you can use this link to sign up for a free trial of Audible, and choose The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy one of your two free books! (You get to keep them even if you cancel, so you don’t really have anything to lose.)
I hope you enjoyed this post! If you have a favorite audiobook, share it in the comments – I’m always looking for good audiobook recommendations.
