Weekly Wrap Up – February 10

Happy Sunday everyone! I hope you all had a good week. It’s been lovely and rainy in Southern California lately, which means I have had plenty of time for reading. So I read four books this week, which is kind of awesome. And since I’m writing this super late, I’ll get right into them.

The first book I read this week was a reread of a classic: Wuthering Heights. I think I first read this about eight years ago for a college course. And I think I liked it about the same this time around (but I did realize my actual rating should be more like four stars, not five). I enjoyed it, but it also turned out to be my least favorite Brontë novel (so far).

This week, I also knocked out my Shakespeare play of the month: Love’s Labour’s Lost. And it was not a favorite. It’s probably close to the bottom of my list. Not terrible, but not really anything special, either.

My last two reads this week were both five stars! The first is The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs by Steve Brusatte, which I had so much fun reading. It was absolutely fascinating. Yet again, I can’t stop talking about the science books I’ve been reading. I’ve been telling anyone who will listen that birds are dinosaurs.

My other five-star read was The Night Tiger by Yangsze Choo. I loved this book. It was such a great diverse historical novel. I already wrote a full review of this one, so I won’t go too much into it. But it was great. And it’ll be out Tuesday, so go get a copy this week.

Now, on to my current reads! After finishing The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs, I needed a new audiobook to listen to and picked up Einstein: His Life & Universe by Walter Isaacson. I’ve been meaning to read this for a while, and am so glad I finally started it. Bonus: the audiobook is read by Edward Herrmann, and I am not at all mad about having Richard Gilmore tell me about Albert Einstein.

I also started reading Daisy Jones & the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I loved The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, and was excited to read her newest novel. I am enjoying this a lot so far. I’ll definitely have review up before it’s released next month.

Finally, I started reading 99 Percent Mine by Sally Thorne. I really liked The Hating Game, and have been looking forward to this one. I’m not very far into it yet, but it’s just not doing anything for me. The writing just feels kind of unfinished, and it’s a little annoying (take this with a grain of salt – I’m really picky about writing). I’m hoping the story is enough to distract me.

Alright, that’s it for this week! I’m hoping for another good reading week, since I have a lot of books I still really want to get to this month.

As always, I’d love to hear what you’re reading this week, so let me know in the comments!

And, I’m working on planning out my blog posts for the next month or so, so if there’s anything you’d like to see, let me know!

  1. I’m currently reading Unfinished Tales by J.R.R. Tolkien! It’s been really good so far (but I’m only on the second story so I can’t judge all that fairly yet). I hope the next week will be an amazing reading week for you as this one has been!
