Books I’ll Probably Never Read Book Tag

I had a different post planned for today, but things change and I need a bit more time to research that properly. Instead, I thought I’d do another tag! I found this one over on Howling Libraries – definitely go check out Destiny’s blog if you haven’t already, it’s okay, I’ll wait – and thought it looked fun.

If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you probably know I read almost everything. Still, there are definitely a few books I’ve either lost interest in reading, or never was interested in reading in the first place. Let’s see if I can find a few of them to include in this tag (I have a feeling all my answers are going to be YA):

A Really Hyped Book You’re Not Interested in Reading

I tend to avoid really hyped books (at least until the hype dies down), so this is probably a decently long list. But one book I’ve really lost all interest in is Looking for Alaska by John Green. I enjoyed a couple of his books years ago, but my tastes have changed enough that I don’t think I’d like them as much now. This one comes up quite a bit, but I don’t have any inclination to pick it up.

A Series You Won’t Start/Won’t Be Finishing

So many! I definitely won’t be reading any more Cassandra Clare – I read most of the Mortal Instruments books, and have no interested in finishing that series or picking up her others. Not that interested in reading The Lunar Chronicles, either. Or most of the dystopian series I didn’t read when that was a huge thing.

A Classic You’re Not Interested In

Oh man, you’re asking someone who got their master’s degree in English. This is so hard, because I love classics and want to read them all. But, if I’m being honest, Charles Dickens and I don’t really get along. So I’ll go with Hard Times, since it’s the one I’m least interested in.

A Genre You Never Read

Does self-help count? Seriously, though, I read everything. Currently reading a nonfiction book about dinosaurs, historical fiction set in China, and a book about a fictional rock band. And that’s just at this exact moment in time.

A Book On Your Shelves You’ll Probably Never Actually Read

I do need to get rid of quite a few YA books I bought years ago and never got around to. But, if I don’t count those, the book I’m least likely to read all the way through is probably The Canterbury Tales. I want to, but I honestly don’t have the energy to deal with it. I did read a bit in grad school, though.

If you’d like to do this tag, then consider yourself tagged!

And if you wouldn’t like to do this tag, let me know in the comments: what’s one book you really don’t want to read?

  1. I’ve read Cinder and Scarlet from the Lunar Chronicles series, and while I mostly enjoyed Cinder, I thought Scarlet was 300 pages of absolute garbage. I also will not be finishing that series.

    1. This was definitely not an easy tag. I rarely rule out reading books completely. I think I’d be more easily convinced to read the Lunar Chronicles than Cassandra Clare. I have nothing against them, I’m just not that into YA fantasy lately. It has to be something really good to catch my attention.
