You might know I’m almost done working my way through the complete works of Shakespeare (only six plays left!). I recently read Measure for Measure, and while it isn’t my favorite play, there were a few quotes I really liked, this one in particular:
Our doubts are traitors,
and make us lose the good we oft might win,
by fearing to attempt.
– William Shakespeare, Measure for Measure
I let my doubts hold me back far too often. It’s something I’m working on, and this quote is a great reminder of that. Imagine how much we could accomplish if we didn’t constantly doubt ourselves. I’m guessing a lot. Personally, there’s a lot more I want to do with my life, and, if I want to do all of those things, I need to not let self-doubt stop me from trying.
What did you think of this quote? Is there a quote from Shakespeare that you love?
