This was an incredible reading week for me! It was the first week in months that I feel like I read as much as I wanted to. I felt back to normal, and I loved it. This was a really great way to start the new year. I managed to finish four books this week, and I am really happy about it.
The first book I finished this week is also the first book I reviewed this week: This Will Only Hurt a Little by Busy Philipps. I listened to the audiobook, and I really enjoyed it! It was a really fun memoir that also had a lot of depth to it (and a good helping of Hollywood gossip). You can read my full review if you want to find out more.
Then I read Unmarriageable by Soniah Kamal. My review for this one will be up tomorrow, so I won’t talk about it too much now. It’s a retelling of Pride and Prejudice set in Pakistan, which I was definitely curious about going in. I will most likely have a review of this one up tomorrow, so keep an eye out for that if you’re curious!
This week is also when I FINALLY finished The Silence of the Girls by Pat Barker. If you’ve been following me for a while, you might know I started this right before my epic end of the year reading slump hit. In November. This was really good! I’m a sucker for Greek mythology, so it’s not surprising that I liked this one, but I enjoyed it a lot. Let me know if you’d like to see a review of this one!
Then I read The Liar’s Room by Simon Lelic, which I also wrote a full review of. This was a really interesting thriller that turned out to be a fun read. It wasn’t my favorite book ever, but I did enjoy it.
As for current reads, I am still working on The Essex Serpent by Sarah Perry. I didn’t read as much of it as I planned to this week because it had to take second place to the books I need to finish and review soon. I’m not totally invested in the story yet, but I like it. I still have high hopes for that one. I’m also listening to the audiobook of The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy by Mackenzi Lee, which I am loving so far! I just really enjoy this series, and both audiobooks are great.
That’s it for this week! I hope you’re all having a great weekend! What are you reading right now?
