Is October really almost over? This month has somehow been both incredibly long and way too quick. Work has been absolutely insane lately, and it is affecting everything else (hence my mini blog break this week). I may have mentioned it before, but I work at a medical school. And right now is resident interview season, which is absolute madness. I’m running it by myself for our department, so just bear with me until it’s over. In January.
That said, this was a pretty slow reading week. I only finished one book: City of Ghosts by Victoria Schwab. It’s been a while since I’ve read middle grade, and I did enjoy this one. I love Victoria Schwab, and I love Edinburgh, so it wasn’t hard to like this book. I will most likely continue this series.
As for current reads, I’m still working on Rebecca and Vengeful (I just feel like I need to take my time with this one for some reason). Since I’ve already talked about both, I won’t say much. But, even though they’re taking me a bit to get through, I am enjoying both books.
This week, I also started my annual Stephen King Halloween read: The Dead Zone. This was my runner up for last year, so I thought I’d finally pick it up. And I am really enjoying it so far. There was one scene at the beginning I hated (I can’t stand anything with animal cruelty, even if it’s fictional and serves a purpose), but it’s turning out to be a quick read. I think I’m going to like this one.
But the best part of this week: I FINALLY started writing again. It’s not great (yet), but I am pretty excited about it. I actually wrote over 4,000 words in two days. I’m considering actually doing NaNoWriMo this year, but it might kill me. So we’ll see.
That’s it for this week! I hope you’re all having a great weekend. What are you reading right now? Anything special for Halloween?
