Happy September everyone! It’s finally almost fall, and I am so excited. Plus, it’s a three-day weekend, which means LOTS of reading. And tea drinking (with the AC on). It’s been a fairly good week. I didn’t read quite as much as I wanted to, but I did cross two books off my TBR, so I can’t really complain.
The first book I finished this week is So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish by Douglas Adams. This is the fourth book in the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy series. I’ve been putting it off for a while because the third one was just okay, and it felt like the series was slowly going downhill. But, I’m glad I decided to continue, because this ended up being my second favorite of the series, after the first book. It was really good. And now I only have one more left to complete the series (I’m not counting the sixth one, because Adams didn’t write it).
I guess this was just a sci-fi week, because then I finished The Three Body Problem by Cixin Liu, a Chinese science fiction novel. I don’t want to give too much away about this one, but it’s really interesting. Probably one of the most unique books I’ve read in a while. It took me a fair amount of time to figure out what was going on, but once I got into it, I enjoyed it a lot. I’m planning on reading the rest of the trilogy soon.
Time for my current reads! I am still slowly making my way through Pride & Prejudice, and am really enjoying it. It’s always in the background on my work computer, and it makes for a nice treat when I have downtime or just need a mental break. Hopefully I’ll finish it this month, but I’m in no rush.
I’m also reading The 7 ½ Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton. I’m not very far into it, but it’s interesting so far. I’m definitely intrigued enough to keep reading. To be fair, this is taking me longer than usual because I got a digital ARC, and I’m kind of over reading on my phone or iPad. My eyes hurt. So I can’t read for as long as I’d like to. But I am enjoying it.
Full disclosure, I have a busy afternoon ahead of me, so I’m writing this fairly early on in the day. So there’s a decent chance I’ll pick up a new book by the time this post goes live. Likely The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, because I just got a copy from the publisher, and am really excited about it.
That’s it for this week! I hope you’re all having a good weekend. Let me know what you’re reading in the comments!
