This was an excellent reading week! If you read my wrap ups regularly, you already know I’ve been struggling a bit lately with my reading. But this week, I feel like I finally got back to my regular pace, and finished three books!
The first book I read this week was The Romanov Empress by C. W. Gortner. I feel like I’ve talked about this a lot lately, so I’m just going to say that I really enjoyed this one, and highly recommend it! You can read my review of The Romanov Empress to find out more.
On Friday, I has tickets to see a production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, so I thought it would be a good time to finally read it. I’ve been saving it for last because I knew I’d love it, but wanted to read it before I saw it. I did love it, and the live performance was great, so I’m happy this was my Shakespeare play of the month.
Finally, I read Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik, which was amazing! I don’t want to jinx it, but I think this book brought me out of my slump. It was just so good! Check out my review of Spinning Silver if you want to find out more.
Now, onto my current reads! The first one I’ll talk about is my current audiobook: Less by Andrew Sean Greer. This caught my eye when it won the Pulitzer earlier this year. For some reason, I’m always curious about prize winners, and wanted to check it out. I actually tried to read a physical copy a couple of months ago, but couldn’t get into it. I’m so glad I gave it a second chance with the audiobook, because I am really enjoying it this time around!
I’m also almost done reading The Colonel and the Bee by Patrick Canning – fingers crossed I get a review up tomorrow. This is such a fun book! It reminds me a lot of the Jackaby series, which I really enjoyed. I’m excited to see where it goes.
I think that’s it for this week! I’m hoping for another good week of reading. Comment below with your current reads – I always love getting recommendations from you! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
