This has been another very long week. I’m writing this post just a few minutes before it’s supposed to go live, and I’m exhausted, so this is going to be a short wrap up.
I finished one book this week. Not bad, since I feel like I am finally coming out of my slump – partly thanks to this book. And it is: The Romanov Empress by C. W. Gortner. This is a novelization of the life of Maria Feodorovna, the mother of Nicholas II. I ended up really loving this one. It reminded me a lot of some of my favorite historical fiction novels (namely, Allison Weir’s Six Tudor Queens series) Just a really great book. You can read my full review of The Romanov Empress if you’re interested in hearing more.
As for current reads, I’m still working on The Colonel and the Bee, which I’m hoping to finish today to have a review up for you tomorrow. It’s such a fun book, and I’m really enjoying it so far.
This week, I also started Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik. I am loving it just as much as Uprooted, and I am so excited to see where this goes. Rumplestiltskin was one of my favorite fairy tales as a child (the other was Twelve Dancing Princesses – I liked the more obscure stuff), so I was highly anticipating this book. And it is definitely living up to my expectations.
That’s it for this week! Hope you all had a good weekend! Let me know what you’re reading this week – I always love hearing about new books.
