This was an incredibly busy week. Between work and starting my own editing business, I’ve just been exhausted. Which means I didn’t get as much reading done as I would have liked. But I did manage to finish one book, and read a bit of a few others.
The book I finished reading this week is Something in the Water by Catherine Steadman. I picked this up completely on a whim, and it ended up being a bit of a disappointment, unfortunately. I had some issues with the characters and the logic behind the story. It wasn’t a bad book, I just think it had potential to be a lot better. You can read my full review of Something in the Water to find out more.
As for current reads, I am working my way through The Colonel and the Bee by Patrick Canning, and really enjoying it so far! It’s such a fun story, and I’m getting strong Night Circus and Jackaby vibes. Can’t wait to finish this one and have a review up for you soon.
I also just started The Romanov Empress by C. W. Gortner, a historical fiction novel about Maria Feodorovna, the mother of Tsar Nicholas II. I love reading about Russian history, so I’m pretty excited about this one. Fingers crossed I can finish it today and have a review up for you tomorrow (unlikely, but it could happen).
That’s it for this week! I hope you’re all having a great weekend – let me know what you’re reading in the comments!
