Weekly Wrap Up – May 6

weekly wrap up

This was a really terrible week. On Wednesday, I had to say goodbye to my cat, Squirrel. I fell in love with her the day she was born in my parent’s garage seven years ago, and it was really hard to see her go. I’m doing a bit better now, but still miss her all the time. Her ashes arrived yesterday (because I just couldn’t bear the idea of leaving her at the emergency vet forever), and it’s been strangely cathartic. She lives on my bookshelf now. Not surprisingly, this week also yielded the worst migraine I have ever had – and I get a lot of migraines. So I’m been out of commission most of the week, and am trying to slowly ease myself back into my normal routine.

I did manage to read one book, because I needed a distraction. I’ve been meaning to read Crazy Rich Asians for a while now, and decided to pick it up because I needed something fun to read. It didn’t blow my mind, but it was pretty good. I will likely continue the series, and I do want to see the movie now.

That’s it for this week. I’m still nursing the remains of my migraine, but hopefully I’ll get back into reading soon.

Hope you all had a better week than I did. I’d love to hear what you’re reading this weekend!

  1. I love Crazy Rich Asians! The series is good, though the second book (China Rich Girlfriend) is a tad bit disappointing. I really liked the movie trailer. I hope you enjoy the rest of the series!

  2. I’m so very sorry to hear the sad news about your cat, Squirrel (I wonder if like a squirrel she had a big bushy tail?). I lost my beloved cat, Nancy in March, so I fully understand your heartache. Although we know they can’t live forever, their loss is never less than devastating. Anyhow, take good care of yourself. I hope your head is soon completely better. Thank heavens for books, eh? 🤗

    1. Thanks so much! (No bushy tail, but she was the runt of the litter and would burrow into her siblings like a little squirrel.) I’m sorry for your loss as well. It’s not an easy thing to go through.

  3. I’m really sorry about Squirrel. I hope the days get easier. My Horton and Lorax are very important to Laura and I, and I just can’t imagine what it would be like without them. I’m sending you all the positive vibes I can. Hang in there!

    1. Thank you! I’m feeling a bit better already. Somehow, being able to glance over at the box of her ashes once in a while is oddly comforting. I did look through a lot of photos the first few days.
