Weekly Wrap Up – April 29

weekly wrap up

I can’t believe April is almost over, but I am definitely ready for May. It’s been a really long week and I’m honestly still tired. Work has been pretty crazy lately, and it has just made everything else that much more difficult. I took a day off Friday and sat at home doing nothing, which was really nice. I didn’t get as much reading done as I would have liked, but I’m planning on spending most of today in bed with a book, so hopefully that changes.

The first book I read this week is The Judge Hunter by Christopher Buckley. I’m not going to go too in-depth into this one because I did a full review, but it was pretty good. Not amazing, but I did enjoy it.

The first book I finished this week is Han Kang’s The Vegetarian. I started this almost a year ago and struggled to get into it. I’ve picked it up sporadically and read little bits here and there and finally finished it. It didn’t blow me away, but I also didn’t hate it. I’m still trying to sort out my feelings, but I think it was a solid three-star read for me.

Finally, because I’m still in the mood for thrillers, I decided to read The French Girl by Lexie Elliott. This was fairly predictable, but I did enjoy it enough to binge-read it. Again, a solid three-star read. Apparently this was just a three-star reading week.

Now, onto the current reads! On a whim, I decided to read Crazy Rich Asians, which is pretty funny so far. I’m definitely enjoying it, but I’m only about a quarter of the way into it. I don’t think it’s going to be a favorite, but I really just wanted a fun read and that’s definitely what this is. I’m excited to see where it goes.

Yesterday, I was really feeling some fantasy and felt the need to embrace it so I FINALLY picked up The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson. I’ve heard such great things about this one, and I’m really excited about the series. At this point, I’ve only read like ten pages, so I haven’t gotten into it, but I have high hopes.

I hope you’re all having a great week. What are you reading this weekend?

  1. My girlfriend is from Singapore and she’s quite angry with how the film adaptation of Crazy Rich Asians is looking so far. It pretty much only represents Chinese Americans and ignores the diversity of Singapore + its culture. Not sure if the books is like that too tho? Would be curious to read a review.
