This was a pretty slow reading week for me for two reasons: First, I was pretty ambitious with my reading and am currently reading two very large and intimidating books. And second, I spent most of my free time knitting and watching Jessica Jones. But as soon as I finish season two, I’m going to try and listen to audiobooks while knitting instead of watching Netflix. Maybe.
I did manage to finish one book this week, which is The Darkling Bride by Laura Anderson. I really enjoyed this one. It was a nice mix of historical fiction, mystery, and romance. You can read my full review if you want to find out more.
As for my current reads, I am sort of making my way through Middlemarch by George Eliot, but it’s slow going. I’m actually enjoying it a lot, but I have to be in the right mood to read it and I’ve just been too tired to focus this week. I’m more than a bit behind on my goal to finish it in March, but that’s okay, I’m still going to finish it.
I am also almost done with Walter Isaacson’s biography of Leonardo da Vinci. I’m actually hoping to finish it today (because I don’t have anything else to review for tomorrow). I absolutely love this book! The audiobook is really addicting and I love looking at all the pictures in my physical copy (which is ridiculously heavy because they printed the ENTIRE BOOK on glossy paper). I was somewhat familiar with Leonardo’s work previously – we all know what the Mona Lisa looks like – but I have loved exploring it more and definitely have a new favorite painting.
That’s it for this week! I’m hoping to pick up (and finish) a few lighter reads this week while working on Middlemarch. If you have any suggestions, let me know!
I hope you’re all enjoying your weekend, despite loosing an hour this morning. As always, I’d love to hear what you’re reading, so let me know in the comments!
