I know I still have a few weeks left in the year, but I think it’s safe to say that I’m not going to finish all of the books I wanted to this year. In particular, there were quite a few new releases (most of which I hauled) that I just didn’t get around to. Hopefully I’ll be able to read them all next year, because they all look really great.
Bonfire by Krysten Ritter. I’ve heard really great things about this, and I am a huge fan of Krysten Ritter, but I just don’t think I’m going to have the time to get to this before 2018. I do want to read it soon, but the end of the year is coming up fast.
Sleeping Beauties by Stephen King and Owen King. This one sounds really interesting, and I did want to try and read more than one Stephen King book this year, but it’s enormous, and there are a lot of other books I need to read in the next couple of months. Maybe it’ll end up being my Halloween pick next year.
Lilian Boxfish Takes a Walk by Kathleen Rooney. I actually read a few chapters of this when it first came out, and was really enjoying it. I have no idea what happened or why I put this down, but I really do want to finish it. (Or start it again, since it’s been a while.)
Final Girls by Riley Sager. I know this is going to probably be cheesy campy horror, but it sounds like such a fun read. I even put it on my October Reading List, and still didn’t read it. (I think it’s the only book on that list I didn’t end up reading.)
When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon. If you somehow made it through 2017 without hearing about this book, please tell me your secrets for staying off the internet. Because this book was everywhere, and it looks so cute. I have a copy, I just need to read it.
American War by Omar El Akkad. I was so excited about this when it came out, and it’s been sitting on my shelf unread since then. This is definitely towards the top of my list for next year, because I am so curious about it!
The Tiger’s Daughter by K. Arsenault Rivera. This is another book I keep hearing about, and I really wanted to read more high fantasy this year, but I just didn’t get around to it. I am planning on reading it in the first few months of 2018, because it looks amazing.
Goodbye, Vitamin by Rachel Khong. This book seems like a short, touching read, and I am definitely looking forward to reading it. I just don’t think I’m going to get to it before the end of the month.
The Power by Naomi Alderman. I really wanted to get to this one, because it looks amazing. Everyone is talking about it. I doubt I’ll read it before the end of the year, but it is at the top of my TBR.
What new releases did you mean to read (but didn’t) this year? Let me know in the comments!
