This month, I decided to share an audiobook I loved that is also a great Halloween reading recommendation. As you probably know by now, I read a Stephen King book every Halloween, and, last year, I opted for the audiobook of:
Misery by Stephen King
Read by: Lindsay Crouse
12 hours and 15 minutes
Misery is one of the rare cases in which I watched the movie long before I ever picked up the book. I love the movie adaptation; Kathy Bates is incredible. So I loved that the narrator of this audiobook sounds very similar to Kathy Bates. For me, it made the story more engaging, and tied in with the vivid image of Annie Bates that I already had in my mind. It was hard to stop listening to it. And even though it’s been nearly a year, I still remember exactly how much I loved this book.
This is easily one of my favorite Stephen King novels, and I think that is at least partly due to the fact that the audiobook was so good. I really enjoyed listening to it, and highly recommend it if you’re looking for something scary to listen to this month.
If you’re interested in this audiobook, you can use this link to sign up for a free trial of Audible, and choose Misery as one of your free books! (You get to keep them even if you cancel, so you don’t really have anything to lose.)
I hope you enjoyed this post! If you have a favorite audiobook, share it in the comments – I’m always looking for good audiobook recommendations.
If you are looking for another spooky audiobook check out The Girl with All The Gifts by M.R. Carey! I haven’t done many audiobooks, but its definitely my favorite so far.
