My Picks from Audible’s Win-Win Sale

audible sale

Audible is currently having one of the best sales they’ve ever had, and there are so many good audiobooks on sale! Since I’ve been doing audiobook recommendations, I thought I’d share a few audiobooks I enjoyed that are currently on sale, just in case you were looking for something new to listen to.

The sale is for members only, BUT you can sign up for Audible now (using this link) and get two books for free AND be able to participate in the sale. (So, win-win-win?)

Here are the books I highly recommend, especially while they’re under $5:

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, read by Jake Gyllenhaal. I actually bought this audiobook during the sale, and listened to an hour of it at work yesterday. It’s a great take on Gatsby, and was the push I needed to finally reread it (it’s been almost ten years since the first time I read it). I’m enjoying it, and think Gyllenhaal’s voice fits the story perfectly.

Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut, read by James Franco. I’m always intrigued by celebrity-read audiobooks, and this is one I listened to fairly recently. I enjoyed the story, and I think that’s due in part to Franco’s reading of it. I honestly don’t think his voice is suited to a lot of books, but this one was perfect. I think it’s a great way to read a classic.

I Am Malala by Malala Yousafzai, read by Archie Panjabi. This is one of the very first audiobooks I ever listened to, and it’s still one of my favorites. I loved the story, and I think it was that much more impactful hearing the words, rather than simply reading them.

The Color Purple written and read by Alice Walker. This is one of those rare audiobooks that I think might be better than the book itself. I don’t think I would have loved this book as much as I did had I read a physical copy. Walker does a brilliant job reading, and I think I was clued in to more of the subtleties of the story listening to her. It’s a book everyone should read, and I would definitely recommend going with the audiobook.

The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August by Claire North, read by Peter Kenny. I could not stop listening to this audiobook. It narration brings the story – which is fantastic on its own – to life, and it was just such a great book to listen to. I actually looked forward to sitting in traffic every day because it meant I could listen longer.

There are a lot of other really great books in this sale, but these are the ones I have already listened to as audiobooks and loved!

I am thinking about picking up one or two more while they’re on sale, so let me know if you have any recommendations from the sale.

The Win-Win Sale ends September 17th, so get your audiobooks soon.
