This has been such a long week. I don’t even know how I managed to read as much as I did, because there has been so much going on. I got in a car accident (my next door neighbor backed into me as I was passing his driveway), and I’ve just been dealing with insurance and rental cars and all that because my car was pretty damaged. And it definitely slowed down my reading progress, so I haven’t read much since Thursday, but at least the beginning of the week was good, and I still finished three books this week.
The first book I read was Ghostly Echoes by William Ritter, which I really enjoyed. I think it’s my favorite of the Jackaby series so far, and I am excited to pick up the finale. I don’t know why it took me so long to pick up these books (though I’m glad it did because I didn’t have to wait for the next one), because they are so good! I’m hoping to get to the fourth and final book in the next couple weeks.
Then I read The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater. (Finally!) I feel like everyone has been talking about this series for ages, and I should have listened a little better, because it is really good! I loved the first book, and have the rest of the series sitting in my Amazon cart, waiting for payday. I might just end up binge-reading the entire thing this month. Again, I’m kind of glad I waited to start this series, because now I can just read them all.
Finally, I picked up another book that I should have read a long time ago: The Archived by Victoria Schwab. I’m pretty sure this was on my November TBR. In 2015. So, it’s been a while… But I read it, and I loved it, and the sequel is keeping the rest of the Raven Cycle company in my Amazon cart, because I want to read it soon.
As for current reads, I have two. Wait, no, three. The first book I’ve been slowly making my way through (still) is The Magician King by Lev Grossman. Honestly, I’m not the biggest fan of this book. I’m giving it a second shot after DNFing it about three years ago, and I’m not enjoying it all that much. Though, interestingly, my feelings this time around are for completely different reasons. I am determined to finish it, though. Eventually.
I am also reading The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden. Unfortunately, I’m not loving this as much as I want to. It took me a long time to get into, and I’m still not totally invested in the story. I’m hoping it picks up soon, because I’m curious to see what happens, but, so far, it’s not a favorite.
And the final book I am currently reading is All Our Wrong Todays by Elan Mastri. I am almost halfway through the ebook, and I’m not quite sure how I feel about this book. Part of me loves it, because it’s different and interesting and such a unique story. But I think there’s something missing for me, and I have no idea what it is. It’s a weird book.
That’s it for this week! I hope you’re all having a great weekend! And for those of you how get Labor Day off, I hope you enjoy the long weekend. I will be spending it reading as many books as I can and trying to catch up on blog posts, because I think I want to go back to two reviews a week. We’ll see what happens.
Let me know what you’re reading this weekend in the comments!
