Tome Topple TBR

Despite my full-time job and blogging and a new writing project (finally!), I have actually been reading a ton lately. And I absolutely love it! So when I saw that one of my favorite readathons was happening this month (starting today), I decided to go for it and knock some of those big books off my TBR. Tome Topple is all about reading books that are 500 pages or longer, and I have so many of those on my shelves right now. These are the ones I am hoping to read during this readathon:

Our Dark Duet by Victoria Schwab. I cannot believe I haven’t read this book yet! I anticipated it for a year, I preordered it, and then… nothing. But I think this is the perfect pick for Tome Topple because it’s a huge book, but I know it’ll be a quick read.

The Wise Man’s Fear by Patrick Rothfuss. I read the first book in this series – The Name of the Wind – during the very first Tome Topple, so I think it’d be great to read this one during TT as well. I’m hoping it’ll be a fairly quick read, even though it’s massive.

Romantic Outlaws by Charlotte Gordon. If I happen to make it through the first two books on this list, I would really like to read this one. It’s nonfiction, about Mary Wollstonecraft and her daughter, Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley. I am a huge fan of both authors, and am fascinated by their lives. Plus, it’s been sitting on my shelf (fine, the giant pile of books on my floor) for over a year. It’s time.

I am also planning on finishing Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow during the readathon, but I don’t think it really counts since I have less than 200 pages left.

If you’re planning on participating, let me know what books you’re planning on reading (or link to your TBR) in the comments! As I usually do with readathons, I will be keeping a mini blog of my progress – it should be up at some point today, as soon as I get home from work.

Happy reading!

  1. Good luck with your tomes! I’m too scared to try reading The Wise Man’s Fear for Tome Topple because I had a couple of false starts with the first book and I don’t want to risk burning out during a readathon. Fingers crossed it works for you, though. That Romantic Outlaws book has been on my radar for a while, it sounds so interesting, so I’d love it if you’d let me know how you end up liking it if you get to it during Tome Topple. 🙂

My TBR is (hopefully) fairly manageable. I’m in the middle of reading War and Peace so that totally counts towards it but I added a couple of other “fun books”, including A Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue which I’m hoping to sneak in reads of during work since I can listen to audiobooks there.

    1. Thanks! If I don’t read Romantic Outlaws during Tome Topple, I will soon! I really just want to get through Wise Man’s Fear.

Good luck with W&P! That one took me months to read. But I think you’ll like Gentleman’s Guide. The audiobook is great!

      Happy reading!

  2. Good luck on your Tome Topple!

I want to do one of this a lot, but I never seem to have nothing else on to actually read a book that can be counted as a tome.
