This week, I read a total of two books. And, somehow, I finished them both in the same day. Because I had absolutely nothing to do at work on Friday. Which worked out pretty well, I guess.
The first book I finished reading this week was Reincarnation Blues by Michael Poore. This is about a man who is reincarnated thousands of times, and each time meets up with his lover, Death. Who also goes by Suzie. It was a really interesting story, and unlike any fantasy book I’ve ever read. I thought the reincarnation was done really well, and I enjoyed this book a lot. I will have a review up sometime before this book is released on August 22.
The next book I read this week is one that’s been sitting on my shelf for a long time: Jeannette Walls’s The Glass Castle. I am so glad I finally read this book, because I ended up absolutely loving it! It drew me in almost immediately, and was such an interesting story. It is a memoir, but it reads like fiction. And I am happy to have crossed this book off my TBR (especially since the movie is coming out soon!).
As for current reads, I am still making my way through Alexander Hamilton, but I finally hit the halfway point this week! I’m hoping to finish it by the end of this month, but I’m not sure that’s going to happen. Still, I am going to finish it, and I am very happy about that. For an 800-page biography, it is surprisingly enthralling.
Since I just finished two books, I’m also planning on picking up a new read this week (I like having a paperback at my desk at work for lunch breaks). Since I just got a copy in the mail – thank you Random House! – I am planning on reading Woman Enters Left by Jessica Brockmole. This is a novel about an actress in the 1950s who sets off on a road trip to discover her inheritance and more about her mother. It follows Louise in the 50s, as well as her mother Ethel and her best friend, Florrie, on their journey thirty years earlier. It sounds like an interesting but fun summer read, and I’m looking forward to it.
I hope you’re all having a great weekend! As always, please share your current read(s) in the comments! I love hearing about what books you’re enjoying!
