Last week I read a total of four books, so, naturally I’d have to even it out this week by only reading one (not intentionally). I also made a trip to the dollar bookstore, which was so much fun – you should definitely check out my dollar bookstore haul if you haven’t yet. And I’m in the middle of
two three books I’m really enjoying, so overall, I’d say it was a pretty good week.
The book I finished this week was Mad Miss Mimic by Sarah Henstra. If I’m honest, this was a total cover buy (look it up, it’s gorgeous), and I didn’t really know what to expect. This book has gotten some mixed reviews, but I really enjoyed it! It was exactly what I was in the mood for, and I absolutely flew through it. Let me know if you’d like to see a full review on this one, or what you thought if you’d already read it.
After finishing Mad Miss Mimic, I started reading Reincarnation Blues by Michael Poore, which is about a man who is continuously reincarnated, and happens to be having a love affair with Death. Who also goes by Suzie. And yes, it is as good as it sounds. I will most likely be finishing it this week, and will have a review up sometime next month. (Reincarnation Blues will be in stores August 22.)
Then, since I needed a physical book to read at work (proctoring a three hour medical student test is super boring), I started reading The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. This has been on my TBR for a while, and I do kind of want to read it before the adaptation comes out, because it looks amazing. So far, I am really enjoying it, and I’m so glad I decided to finally pick it up.
Finally, I am still slowly making my way through Ron Chernow’s Alexander Hamilton on audiobook, which is so good. I was worried I wouldn’t make it through a 36 hour long biography, but I’m just about halfway through, and I am definitely planning on finishing it. If you like biographies (or Hamilton) I highly recommend it!
I hope you are all having a good weekend! What are you currently reading? Have you discovered any great books this week?
