This week felt ridiculously long. I actually read a lot during the first half of the week, because I knew I wasn’t going to read much after Wednesday. And that’s because I started a new job! It’s a good job at a really great company, and I’m excited to finally be working in an office again. Even though I have no idea what I’m doing yet and I’m still exhausted from the two days I worked this week. But I’m hoping to get into a better routine soon, and hopefully get some reading done during my lunch breaks. I just need to figure out what book to read next.
The first book I finished this week is Alison Weir’s Anne Boleyn: A King’s Obsession, which I already reviewed – so if you want more info, you can head on over to that post. Anne Boleyn is the sequel to Katherine of Aragon: The True Queen, and I absolutely loved it! This is such a fantastic series, and I am really looking forward to the next one!
This week I also finished A Room of One’s Own by Virginia Woolf, which I loved! It was such a great essay, and I am so glad to have finally read it! Since the edition I have also contains Three Guineas, I decided to go ahead and read that one, too. I didn’t like it quite as much, but it was still a good read.
Finally, I read Bridget Jones’s Diary by Helen Fielding, which has been on my TBR for a ridiculously long time. The movie is one of my favorites – I watch it all the time – and while the book was basically the same story, I didn’t love it as much. It was a fun read, but there is definitely not enough Mark Darcy. Still, it was a nice, short, fun read, and crossing it off my TBR felt incredibly satisfying.
I am currently reading one (possibly two) books. The first is The Chalk Artist by Allegra Goodman, of which I was sent an ARC. I’m not entirely sure how I feel about it yet, but I think I like it. I’m not very far into it, though. I’m hoping to have a review up in the next couple of weeks. I also picked up a copy of The One Memory of Flora Banks by Emily Barr at Target the other day because it looked pretty interesting, and I have a major weakness when it comes to signed books at Target. I’ve read a few pages, and I’m not sure if I want to continue, or leave it for another time.
I think that’s it for this week. Hopefully, I can fit in some more reading today before it’s time for work bright and early tomorrow morning. But I also need to write all the blog posts for this week, so we’ll see how that goes…
Let me know what you’re reading this weekend, and if you have any new recommendations for me! Hope you’re all having a great weekend.
