Weekly Wrap Up May 14 – I Actually Read My Book of the Month

weekly wrap up

This week, I tried to read as much as I possibly could, since it was my last full week without having to work. And while I am very excited about my new job, and grateful to have gotten a good one, I am definitely going to miss my free time. I didn’t end up reading quite as much as I wanted to, but I did finish two books this week and made decent progress on a third.

The first book I finished this week is Katherine of Aragon: The True Queen by Alison Weir. I loved this book. It was everything I wanted from historical fiction, and was a fantastic way to return to Tudor historical fiction – which I was obsessed with about ten years ago – and Alison Weir’s writing. I think it’s safe to say my affinity for the Tudors has returned (I’m watching the TV show on Netflix as I write this), and I can’t wait to read more. You can read my review of Katherine of Aragon if you want to know more about it.

After I finished Katherine of Aragon, I immediately jumped into the next book in the Six Tudor Queens series: Anne Boleyn: A King’s Obsession. I was hoping to have read this by it’s release date, but I doubt I’m going to finish it by Tuesday. Still, I’m hoping to read it this week, and have a review up for you on Friday. So far, it’s just as good as the first book. I’m already a huge fan of this series!

I have been pretty terrible about reading my Book of the Month Club books when they arrive, but not this month! Because I’d seen it around quite a bit, I decided to select Cale Dietrich’s debut novel, The Love Interest. And then I read the entire book in one sitting the day it came in the mail. It wasn’t my favorite book ever, but it was definitely a fun read, and made for a perfect break from historical fiction (seriously, the small text was hurting my eyes). I am planning on having a review up tomorrow for those interested.

I think that’s it for my reading this past week. I’m not sure how my reading habits are going to change with this new job, but I’m hopeful that I can schedule time for reading (and get back into audiobooks now that I have a commute again). I’m also not entirely sure if I’ll have to cut back on blog posts, too, so bear with me, because there might be some changes in the next month or so. One thing I do know: I will be able to afford more books again, so there will probably be a pretty massive June book haul in my future.

I haven’t planned anything yet, but keep your eyes peeled for a giveaway sometime soon! I really want to thank you all for being so supportive of me and my blog. I wish I could send each of you a book! Since I’m still in the planning stages: let me know what book(s) you’d like the opportunity to win.

Alright, I think that’s it for this week. I hope you’re having a great weekend. As always, feel free to share what you’re reading this week in the comments. I love reading your recommendations!

  1. Good luck with the new job!! I just started You by Caroline Kepnes, super creepy so far, but I haven’t read a thriller in a while and I miss them. Also my BF and I went on a trip this weekend so while he was driving I read from the book What If?: Serious Scientific Answers to Absurd Hypothetical Questions, super dorky and fun…. I also feel smarter:)
