I’m going to keep this month’s reading list pretty short. Because last month’s list was very ambitious, and then I got sick and fell behind on the books I need to read, let alone the books I want to read. And I miss reading books purely because I want to read them. So this month, my goal is to catch up on as many books as I can so I can start enjoying reading a bit more.
I don’t want to transfer all the books over here, so if you’re interested, you can go check out my April Reading List and just pretend all of those books are on this list, too.
Here are the (additional) books I am going to attempt to read this month:
The Chalk Artist by Allegra Goodman. This one is about teacher who falls in love with a young artist who washes away his work as soon as it’s done. It sounds pretty interesting and literary, and I’m looking forward to reading it. It’ll be out mid-June, so I’m trying to read and review it ahead of time (instead of at the last minute, like I do with every other ARC).
The Changeling by Victor LaValle. This is another mid-June release that I am hoping to get ahead on. This one is about a man searching for his missing wife after she commits a horrific crime (based on the synopsis, I think she kills their infant son). Not something I’d usually gravitate towards, except this one seems to be heavy on the magical realism, which looks really interesting.
A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas. I am not a fan of Sarah J. Maas’s writing, but this series is a total guilty pleasure for me. (And yes, I know it’s problematic.) I do want to find out what happens, so I still want to finish this trilogy. But, I don’t plan on reading any more of Maas’s books after this one.
It’s so tempting to put a million other books on this list, but I really need to focus on just getting caught up (and hopefully a bit ahead) with my reading. And then I can finally get back to picking up books because I feel like it. The reading pressure is real, you guys.
What are you planning on reading this month?
