Weekly Wrap Up – January 21

weekly-wrap-up

I didn’t feel like blogging much this week. Or reading, really. I’m not sure if this funk was caused by me finally relaxing after being done with grad school, or just a bad week, but I decided to just kind of go with it, instead of forcing myself to write mediocre posts. I’m hoping to get back into the flow next week – I want to write a few posts this weekend – and hopefully I can figure out a good blogging schedule soon.

I’ll be honest: part of the reason I haven’t read much this week is because I got back into playing Dragon Age II. That game is super addicting, and killing imaginary people is weirdly relaxing. I’ve realized I put a bit of pressure on myself when I read, so I’ve been gravitating toward other hobbies lately, which I’m kind of okay with. Hopefully I can figure out a way to stress less about reading, but for now, I’m just going with what I feel like doing.

This week, I finished one book: Everything Leads to You by Nina LaCour. I really enjoyed this one! It was the cute young adult romance I wanted, but had a bit of depth to it, which I liked. I planned on reviewing this yesterday, but I was not into writing and wasn’t liking the way my post was turning out, so I decided to reschedule it for sometime next week. If you’re interested, keep an eye out for that soon.

Since I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump, I’ve been kind of bouncing around between books. I’m about halfway through the audiobook of Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng. I started it as an eb0ok a few months ago, and then stuff happened and I put it down. Now that I’m into it, I do kind of love it, though! I’m also reading Barack Obama’s Dreams From My Father, which is amazingly well-written and impactful. And I’m only about twenty pages in. Finally, I’m reading Lillian Boxfish Takes a Walk by Kathleen Rooney. This is a slow read, which I’ve found is perfect for bedtime reading. Something about this book speaks to me, and I think I’m going to really enjoy it.

Sorry this post is kind of crappy and all over the place. I’m just not in a good space to blog at the moment. But I hope you’re all having a great weekend, and I hope to have some great posts up for you next week. Let me know what you’re reading this weekend in the comments!

  1. We all have these slumps, and recognizing them is important for better content at a future time! Hang in there and enjoy the time to follow your perfect desires outlined by your heart.

  2. Great post! Sometimes you want to give time for your other interests in your life and that’s ok. Reading is something that you do because you love it, it is not an obligation. I am glad that you are starting to read Dreams from my father, I look forward to hearing what you think of it, it is a book I’ve been wanting to read for a long time.
