Weekly Wrap Up – December 10

weekly-wrap-up

It’s been a very long week. I didn’t get as much reading done as I would have liked, but that’s okay. Between work and school, I didn’t have much time for anything else. Still, I managed to finish two books this week, one I loved and one I didn’t.

The book I didn’t love is The Bookseller by C. Robert Cales. I did receive it for review from the publisher, and I thought the premise sounded interesting. However, I think the author tried to cram too many stories in one book, and it was unsuccessful. My full review will be up on Monday for those of you who are interested.

And the book I did like was (of course) Lauren Graham’s Talking as Fast as I Can. I thought this was a perfect way to follow up watching the Gilmore Girls revival. I thought it was interesting, funny, and well-written. I am really excited to get to Graham’s novel, Someday Someday Maybe, which has been sitting on my shelf for about a year now. I will probably publish a review Talking as Fast as I Can in the next week or two.

I am also still making my way through Little Women for my readalong, and am really enjoying it. The only problem is that I got pretty far behind, and had to read about 120 pages last night to make up for the rest of the week. So if you’re doing the readalong, please don’t feel bad if you’re a bit off track. I think doing the readathon is actually forcing me to read, which was definitely one of the reasons I created it. Thanks to all who are participating, and keep an eye out on Twitter – @biblioadvntrs – because I will be doing some sort of discussion in the next few days.

In other news, my thesis is almost done! This weekend I have to write a marketing report for it (which sounds oh so fun, doesn’t it?). And then I have a few thousand words left to write, a few weeks of edits, and then I never have to look at it again. Honestly, it didn’t turn out how I wanted, but I’ve learned a lot, and I’m excited to apply those things to my next project.

I hope you all have a great weekend! Let me know if you’re reading anything good or doing anything particularly fun! I always love hearing from you!
