Weekly Wrap Up – November 19

It’s been so long since I’ve done one of these that I almost forgot to write it! But I finally read some books this week after a hardcore reading slump, so I thought I’d share them with you. This is going to be a somewhat short post, because I do need to get back to working on my thesis (between having a cold and procrastinating way too much this week, I’m in trouble). Anyway, here’s what I read this week:

First, I finally finished The Reflections of Queen Snow White by David Meredith, which the author kindly sent me for review months ago. It was an interesting take on a traditional fairy tale, and I did enjoy it. I did review it already, so, if you’re interested, click the link to read more of my thoughts on this book.

Then I read Thanks a Lot, John LeClair by Johanna Parkhurst, which I loved! It’s a wonderful young adult book about a high school athlete struggling with how his homosexuality will affect his future in hockey. I haven’t read anything like it before, and I thought it was really well done. It’s set to be released mid-December, and my review is scheduled in about a week, so be sure to check back then!

Finally, I read J. K. Rowling’s screenplay for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. I have not seen the film yet, but holy crap, it was amazing. I know I’m going to love the movie just as much. I love the new characters, and the new aspects of the magical world. I might review it soon, so stay tuned… (And let me know what you thought of the movie in the comments – I’m interested to hear what everyone thought!)

Yesterday was the start of the second Tome Topple Readathon, which I am participating in, so be sure to check out my mini blog for updates on what I’m reading.

This week, I also announced a Little Women readalong I’m hosting in the month of December, so, if you’re interested, be sure to click the link for all the information you need to participate. It’s really low-key, so even if you don’t think you can finish the book in a month, I encourage you to participate! It’s going to be really fun!

I hope you’re all having a great start to the weekend! Share your weekend reads in the comments – any great books I need to know about?

  1. Fantastic Beasts, I’m so jealous 😛 The movie only comes out here next Friday, but I’m definitely planning to go and see it and I’m really excited about it! I’ve always wanted to finish The Little Women, I’ve picked it up a couple of times, but I’ve never actually managed to finish it 😊

    1. The script was so good! I probably won’t be able to see the movie until next week, but I’m sure it’s amazing.

And I’ve done the same thing with Little Women – you should do the readalong! I think it’ll keep me motivated to actually finish it this time 🙂

      1. I have to wait to purchase the script too, I didn’t pre-order the book and now my budget is a little tight 🙈 Maybe I should, I’m going to check out your post again about the readalong 😊
