Exciting things are happening! I’ve been wanting to make some changes to my blog for a while and I’m finally doing it. I kind of fell into a very generic hole and I’m trying to climb my way back out, and I need your help. First of all, you may have noticed my new look. It’s awesome, I know. I’ve been hunting for a new, more streamlined, theme for a while and fell in love with this one. So I finally splurged on a big-girl premium theme (basically, one that wasn’t free). And I love it!

Which inspired me to make some changes elsewhere. First of all, I think I’m going to be rethinking my header images. I’m going more minimalist and focusing on the writing. Which also means… no more filler posts. For the past year, I have been posting six days a week, and sometimes, I don’t love the stuff I’m putting out there. And that’s because I feel pressure to always have something new and exciting for you guys.  I’m going to try and be a bit more selective about what I post, and put more effort into making each post awesome. Because, honestly, I feel like they’ve become generic, and I’m really sorry about that.

While this blog is definitely something I do for myself, because I love doing it and it makes me happy, I also want to create a blog that you want to read. So, here’s where I need your help. I want to know what you like and don’t like about Adventures of a Bibliophile. Love Top Ten Tuesday, but hate Recommended Reading posts? Or maybe you want to see longer book reviews or spoilery-discussion posts. Is there anything you want to see on this blog that isn’t here? Like maybe book news or quarterly favorites? Are you interested in academic updates (i.e. what I’m working on in grad school, what classes I’m taking, maybe some writing assignments for you to read)? How about more random bookish discussion posts, like my “Thoughts on Translations” or “Does it Matter Who the Author is” posts?

I want to know what you’d like to see! So let me know in the comments. Thanks in advance for your help!

  1. I noticed the new look, and I LOVE it! I think at this point, I’ve gone as far as I can with my theme without paying for one– and I’ve told myself I won’t do that until I’ve got a really good visual of what I want my blog to look like.

As for things I like, I think its great to focus on the writing, and less on the gimicky stuff. I’ve already started overlooking Top Ten Tuesdays if I’ve got a book review or something that I think is better content, or if I just can’t think of a way to make it relevant to what my blog is all about. I also like the random bookish discussion posts, and would love to see more of them, especially if they are able to incorporate some great recommendations in them. Quarterly faves are a definite yes, too (I’m hoping to do the same)!

Really, I’ll read whatever you write, so do what you love.

    1. Thanks! I put off paying for a theme for a long time, and just fell in love with this one (which was one of the cheapest ones, so it wasn’t terrible). I will definitely work on some more bookish discussion posts! I think they’re my favorite to write, actually, it just takes longer to put them together. Thanks again! This is some great feedback ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. LOVE the new look! ๐Ÿ™‚
I always enjoy Top Ten Tuesday and I always find new books from you that way. Since I do bookish discussion type posts, I think those are a keeper too ๐Ÿ™‚
    Good luck!
