This week was pretty incredible, because I had the entire week off of work, and I only had one tiny little assignment for school. I also finished my final project for my editing class on Sunday, which means I am done! Until March 7th, when I start my next class. But still, I had the entire week to do nothing but read. And read I did!
On Monday, I finished reading A Gathering of Shadows, the sequel to V. E. Schwab’s A Darker Shade of Magic. It was just as good as the first book! And it ended on a super cliffhanger, so I want the third one even more now. I really love this series, it’s completely unlike anything else I’ve read. If you haven’t tried it yet, you should. Just saying.
Then on Tuesday, I finished two books (yay!). The first was Boy, Snow, Bird by Helen Oyeyemi. I’ve been meaning to read it for a while, and while it didn’t blow me away, I’m glad I finally got around to it. It was an interesting story, and kind of a weird twist on Snow White. I liked that it addressed racism within the context of magical realism, because I definitely haven’t seen that before.
I also read Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo, another book I’ve been meaning to read for a while. I own the entire trilogy, plus the first book to her next series, Six of Crows, so I figured I’d better read them. Good news: I liked the first book, and am excited to continue on with the other two soon!
Finally, this week, I read Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. I absolutely loved this book! It was fun and heartbreaking. I started Wednesday evening, and then spent Thursday morning sobbing into my coffee. I can’t wait to see the movie next weekend!
In non-book news, I watched The Danish Girl this week, as well. And it was incredible! Eddie Redmayne totally deserves the Oscar for his performance (sorry, Leo). He completely transformed into the character. It was so, so good! I picked up the book last month, and I will definitely be starting it soon, because I really loved the story.
Another favorite of the week: the new smoked butterscotch latte from Starbucks. I love butterscotch, and this one isn’t too sweet for me. Plus, it’s supposed to taste like butterbeer mixed with coffee, so obviously, I’m on board. It’s limited edition (maybe?), so if it sounds good, you should go try it soon.
I also finished my editing class this week, and I’m really happy about it! I’ve decided that I actually like editing, I just didn’t like the structure of this course (it was the second time it was offered, so it was really unorganized). But I’m done! Which means I only have four classes left until I get my masters!
And that’s it for this week! I hope you’re all having a wonderful weekend. Let me know what you’re reading, or planning to read this week.
