TBR for My Week Off

time off tbr.jpg

For the first time in a while, I have the entirety of next week off of both school and work (minus one tiny little assignment I’m going to try and finish early). My plans for the week are entirely bookish: I’m planning on completely reorganizing all of my books, including doing a massive unhaul (so look out for a post on that!), and getting a lot of reading done. My final project (which is actually due Sunday) has been killing both the time I have to read and my motivation for reading lately, so I have a lot of partially read books happening at the moment. Anyway, here are the books I am hoping to read/finish in the next week or so:

  1. Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo. Since I own all of Bardugo’s published novels, I thought it would probably be a good idea to start reading them. I got really into this one, and then put it on hold to read Morning Star, so I’m hoping to finish it in the next week. Because I really want to read Six of Crows, but I want to finish the Grisha trilogy first.
  2. The Color Purple by Alice Walker. I started the audiobook for this one because it’s the February pick for Our Shared Shelf book club. This is one of those books I’ve been putting off for a long time, but I have to say, I love it! It’s brilliant! I’ve got about four hours of listening left, and I can’t wait to see what happens. (If you want to read this book, I would highly recommend the audiobook, read by Walker herself. It’s excellent!)
  3. Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. I’ve had this book for so long, but finally decided to pick it up because the movie is coming out soon. I’m trying really hard not to start it before I finish the pervious four books on this list, though.
  4. Boy Snow Bird by Helen Oyeyemi. This is my February pick for the Reading New England Challenge (this month’s theme is fiction), and, sadly, February is almost over. So I need to read this soon! (I’m not going to freak out if I don’t finish it in February, but I’m going to try.)

I was really overambitious this month, especially since the final project for my editing class is due this week. That said, if I do manage to finish these four books, I would also really like to read Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard and A Gathering of Shadows by V. E. Schwab, and hopefully get some reading done in both A Brief History of Time and War and Peace, which are my long-term reading projects.

Let me know what you’re planning on reading this week!

  1. Next week our new assistant will be all trained up, and then I’m back to my regular part time schedule and can read more again! I’m bingeing on a fantasy series on my kindle right now–but I can’t for the life of me think of the title.
