Weekly Wrap Up – December 19

Stack Of Books

There is officially less than a week until Christmas! I only have about two more gifts I need to buy – I think I did really well this year! After hitting a major reading slump for about a week and a half, I finally got back into reading this week. Not quite at the pace I’d like, but at least I’m reading.

I finally finished The Relic Master by Christopher Buckley on Tuesday, which I’d been making my way through for about two weeks. If you’re interested, you can check out my review here. I really enjoyed it, and if you’re looking for some funny historical fiction, I would definitely recommend it!

On Wednesday, I read two chapters of The Artful Edit by Susan Bell for my class on editing. I found it very interesting, and while I haven’t read the whole thing yet, I think it’s very helpful both for editors and writers.

Then on Wednesday night, I finally started the Illustrated Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, which is magnificent! The illustrations are gorgeous, and really enhance the story. If you are a Potterhead, you need this book!

I feel like these weekly wrap ups have been getting more and more boring. In non-book related news (just in case you were wondering): my nanny job resumed this week, which is really exciting. I worked a lot this week (14 hours yesterday alone), which is partly I didn’t get a ton of reading done this week. I’ve also been playing The Sims 4 a lot, not going to lie. It’s possible I haven’t completely come out of my reading slump.

Anyway, that’s pretty much it for this week! I’m going to see Star Wars today, which I’m very excited about. And hopefully I will get some reading done, because I’ve only read three books this month, one of which was for school, and it’s already the 18th and I am not happy with that number.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

  1. I’m ashamed to say I’ve not yet read the new illustrated Harry Potter. I went out and bought it the week it came out — and overpaid for it at that — and I’ve barely cracked it open. I’m glad you’re enjoying it! Harry Potter is a pretty good prescription for a reading slump. 🙂
