Yes, SIX. A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking, The Early Stories of Truman Capote, American Gods by Neil Gaiman, A Scanner Darkly by Philip K. Dick, Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury, and The Sandman Vol. II by Neil Gaiman. Just in case you were wondering what they all are.
A Brief History of Time is going to take me a while to read – even though it’s relatively short – just because it’s pretty dense, and I am not a math and science person. So I’m planning on reading it a bit at a time over a month or two. I am actually enjoying it, though. I’m reading The Early Stories of Truman Capote because I got an ARC and I want to get a review up before it’s released on the 27th. I’m reading American Gods for the second time this year because that’s the book my bookclub picked for our first meeting. A Scanner Darkly is for the PopSugar Reading Challenge (a book that takes place in my hometown). Something Wicked This Way Comes is because I started it a long time ago and decided to pick it back up this month (and chose a bad time to get to it). And Sandman because it’s going to take me forever to get through the entire series, so it’s kind of just an ongoing thing.
I think I’m trying to fend of a reading slump, which is why I’ve been starting new books. Alternating between them is kind of helping. But it’s becoming a serious problem. I almost always read multiple books at one time, but I can’t remember the last time I had six going. Usually, I stay around three. And today, I actually picked up and read three pages of another book before forcing myself to put it back.
And I haven’t even mentioned the fact that I’m supposed to be reading Mary Wollstonecraft’s A Vindication of the Rights of Woman for class this week. So I guess that makes it seven books. Eight if you count the fact that I read four chapters of A Catcher in the Rye yesterday because none of the books I’m reading sounded interesting at the time.
I haven’t done a post like this in a while, so I thought I’d take the opportunity to vent about my current reading slump/inability to finish a book before starting the next. Plus, I’ve had a little too much coffee today. Which may or may not have something to do with watching Gilmore Girls (I swear, every time I watch that show, my coffee consumption triples).
