Today’s Top Ten Tuesday (hosted by The Broke and The Bookish) is a freebie, so I thought I’d share some of my all-time favorite book covers. I love book covers! They are one of the many reasons I will always prefer physical books to ebooks (I know ebooks have covers, too – it’s just not the same). I’ve been known to buy multiple editions of some of my favorites just because the covers are pretty.
Here are my favorite book covers:
The Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker – definitely one of the most beautiful covers I’ve ever seen. The gold is actually metallic, and it’s gorgeous against the matte blue.
Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman – I love the simplicity of this cover. I have almost all of Gaiman’s books in these editions.
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak – I found this British edition in a used bookstore in Boston, and I absolutely love it!
The Diviners by Libba Bray – This cover is just so perfect! I love the combination of both the supernatural and art deco elements of the novel. I’m still really upset about the cover change for the sequel.
Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen – I have the full set of these Vintage Classic editions because they are gorgeous. Each novel has a different pattern (with a complementary pattern inside), and Northanger Abbey is my favorite.
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern – maybe it’s because I love this book so much, but I really like this cover. Its simple, but still very interesting.
Full Dark, No Stars by Stephen King – I own several Stephen King books, but this is by far the best cover. It’s just so cool and creepy.
Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling – I bought this set early last year and the covers are gorgeous! I also really love the new Bloomsbury adult versions. One day, I will probably own like eight full sets of the series.
The Martian by Andy Weir – a great cover for a great book! The orange ombre is beautiful, and I think its just so simple and perfect.
The Paper Magician by Charlie N. Holmberg – this is the only book on the list I read solely because of the cover art. I’d been staring at it for ages and finally gave in last week (thank you, Kindle Unlimited).
The Golem and the Jinni cover is an attractive cover, its says mystery, deep and come see.

I love all your choices!! Especially The Diviners cover — I was really sad they decided to change them…I would be interested to hear the thought process that went into the change.

Thanks! I love The Diviners cover so much, I’m curious to know why they decided to change it, too. I hate that they don’t match on my shelf 😦

Book covers are so important – they can really set the tone for a book. I actually have a collection of book cover t-shirts (from Out of Print) – perfect conversation starters!

I agree about covers setting the tone for the book! And I love Out of Print! I have a bunch of their shirts! (I even scoured the internet for their original 1984 sweatshirt because I liked it better haha.)
