30 Day Writing Challenge Day 13: What Am I Excited About?

I’ve learned that, for me, it’s much easier to get through the tough and mundane times when I have something great to look forward to. So I always try to have something, even something small, to get excited about. Right now, there are a few things I’m excited about.

I am pretty excited to be done with this Shakespeare class (I have four weeks left). I actually like Shakespeare (and school), but my heart just hasn’t been in it. It’s like my brain is refusing to study right now, and it’s making this class go by so slowly. Plus, the amount of reading is about double what most of my other classes have been, so I haven’t had time for much else.

I am actually excited to go back to work on Monday. I am a part-time nanny for a five-month old, and they haven’t needed me for a few months. I’ve missed that little face, and I can’t wait to go back!

I’m excited to read the sequel to Libba Bray’s The DivinersLair of Dreams, which comes out on Tuesday (and I have preordered – thank you Amazon Prime). I loved the first book, and can’t wait to see where Bray takes the second. If you liked her Gemma Doyle Trilogy, you will probably like this one.

But the thing I am most excited about right now is the fact that I have tickets to see Neil Gaiman in Long Beach in November. I am a huge Gaiman fan (which you probably already know), and I have been collecting signed copies of his books for the past year. But I honestly never thought I’d be able to meet him. I’m actually already nervous, that’s how much of a nerd I am. I am insanely excited to finally hear him speak (and hopefully meet him without saying something stupid – which I have been known to do when meeting authors).

What are you excited about right now?

P.S. If any of you are going to see Gaiman at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center on November 14th – let me know! It would be awesome to meet up! And if you’re in So Cal and want to go, there are still tickets available. Just so you know.
