30 Day Writing Challenge Day 7: Ten Songs I’m Loving Right Now

1. Strange Birds – Birdy

I love Birdy. Her album, Fire Within has become my go-to for driving anywhere. This song is haunting and beautiful and I usually end up repeating it at least once.

2. Ship to Wreck – Florence & the Machine

Florence & the Machine’s new album, How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful has been on rotation on my iTunes lately. I love Florence Welch’s voice and this song.

3. Make You Feel My Love – Adele

For some reason, this song keeps popping into my head lately.

4. The One That Got Away – The Civil Wars

I love listening to The Civil Wars when I’m writing or studying. This song always gets stuck in my head.

5. Glory and Gore – Lorde

I have a bit of a love affair with Lorde’s music, and this has been my favorite song of hers since I first heard it. It makes me want to write something epic and awesome.

6. A Summer in Ohio – The Last Five Years

The Last Five Years is my favorite musical and this song is hilarious.

7. What Do You Do with A BA in English? – Avenue Q

If you haven’t heard of Avenue Q, you’re seriously missing out. It’s an awesomely irreverent musical. This song is especially fitting for me right now – I catch myself singing this to myself a lot, and usually change the lyrics to “what do you do with an MA in English”.

8. The Beacon – A Fine Frenzy

A Fine Frenzy is one of my favorite artists and I just adore this song. It’s a bit sad, but so identifiable for anyone who has been/is or know someone who is depressed.

9. Things We Lost in the Fire – Bastille

I don’t even really know why I like this song. It’s just cool.

10. The Scientist – Coldplay

Apparently it’s not cool to like Coldplay, but I don’t care. This will always be my favorite Coldplay song – it’s so beautiful.

      1. I have to suffer through Coldplay cover songs at work. That’s what it should be not cool to like, ugh. But mall music is almost all covers now. You’ve probably never heard of the bands. 😉
